What does the 100% whey protein shake from All Stars contain?
The protein content is a combination of ultrafiltered whey protein concentrate and whey protein isolate and, in addition to glutamine, leucine and taurine, also contains the enzymes papain and bromelain. The powder is sweetened with a sweetener and contains flavors for a particularly natural and delicious taste.
Whey protein - the production:
The processing of the starting raw material whey is crucial for the quality of whey protein. The processing takes place with special manufacturing methods, usually with the "ultrafiltration process", in which the protein is not heat-treated and is therefore not damaged in any way.
With the help of special ceramic filters, fat and milk sugar are removed from the whey. In a further processing step, the powder is instantized by spray drying, which ensures that the powder does not clump in liquid. A high-quality whey protein supplement can be recognized by the fact that the powder quickly and completely dissolves in liquid.
An ultrafiltered whey protein is considered to be the highest quality protein from whey, because the gentle processing process preserves the numerous natural protein components (alpha-lactalbumin, beta-lactalbumin, glycomacropeptides and immunoglobulins) that occur in the whey.
Whey protein - biological value:
In the various methods of determining protein quality, whey protein leads the way when compared to other types of protein. The Protein Efficiency Ratio (PER) and the Biological Value (BW) indicate how efficiently a food protein can be converted into the body's own protein. The PER of whey protein clearly exceeds the value of other individual proteins. Whole egg protein is used as reference protein with a BW of 100 to determine the biological value. With a value of 104, whey protein has the highest biological value of all protein raw materials.
In addition to a high PER and high biological value, whey protein also has a particularly high content of branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs = L-valine, L-leucine, L-isoleucine), which make up about a third of muscle protein. Large amounts of these amino acids are needed, especially in the regeneration phase. Whey protein is therefore ideal for supplying protein directly after training.
Why 100% whey protein from All Stars?
The shake made from 30 g 100% whey protein powder and 250 ml water or 300 ml milk has about 115 kcal only about 2 g carbohydrates (of which about 1.5 g sugar) and less than 2 g fat. In return, it provides a whopping 22-24 g of protein and more than 5 g of BCAA per serving.
